The opening day of the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was completely washed out due to constant rain. There was no play at all, not even the toss, as the rain kept coming down. The umpires did an inspection around noon, but since the rain hadn't let up, they decided to call off the day's play. The situation looked so bad that the teams didn't even leave their hotel.
The weather forecast predicts more rain later, and tomorrow is expected to be cloudy too. On Thursday, the teams couldn't even practice because of the rain.
Bangladesh is leading the two-match series 1-0 after winning their first-ever Test against Pakistan in the previous match. Pakistan had used an all-fast-bowler lineup in that game, but this time they added leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed to their squad. Bangladesh's fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is fit and might replace Nahid Rana. However, we’ll have to wait until at least Saturday morning to know the final playing XIs.
This Test was originally scheduled to be held in Karachi, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) moved it to Rawalpindi due to ongoing construction work at the National Stadium.
