In the Asian Championship, ten female wrestlers from SAI achieved a remarkable feat by winning ten medals, including six golds. The team was led by their head coach, Manjit, from Sonipat.
During the Asian Wrestling Championship, held from June 22 to 30 in Amman, Jordan, these ten female wrestlers from India competed in the Under-23 age category and secured the overall trophy. This triumph not only brought pride to the country but also highlighted the name of Sonipat. Under the guidance of Manjit Rani, the daughter-in-law of Juaan village, the team shone brightly and brought glory to both the nation and Haryana.
The Indian female wrestling team won the overall trophy with 230 points. Kazakhstan's team followed in second place with 154 points, and Kyrgyzstan took third place with 147 points.
Manjit Rani hails from Bhagwatipur village in Rohtak. In 2017, she married Manoj Chhikara from Juaan village. This was her first time traveling to Jordan as the head coach of the women's wrestling team. Manjit Rani has a distinguished wrestling career herself, having competed in the Asian Championship in 2009 and being a three-time national medalist. She has been with the SAI center and the Indian team as a coach since 2012.
