Ajinkya Rahane's Big Decision: To Play for a Foreign Team
Ajinkya Rahane, a star batsman currently not part of Team India, has made a significant decision. He will soon be seen playing for a foreign team. Rahane hasn't played a match for Team India in the past year.
Rahane's Absence from International Cricket
Ajinkya Rahane has been away from international cricket for a while now. He hasn't had the opportunity to play for the Indian team for the last year. He was made the vice-captain of the Indian Test team for the West Indies tour last year. However, this tour turned out to be forgettable for Rahane as he failed to score a half-century in both innings. Since that tour, he hasn't been selected for Team India. Amidst this, Rahane has made a major decision to play for a foreign team.
Rahane Joins Leicestershire
The Leicestershire team has included Ajinkya Rahane for the second part of the County Championship and the One Day Cup. Rahane will play 5 matches in the County Championship and the entire One Day Cup tournament for Leicestershire. He was supposed to join Leicestershire last summer but decided to take a break from cricket, which is why he didn't join the team then. Now, Rahane will replace Wiaan Mulder in the team.
Rahane's Performance in International Cricket
Ajinkya Rahane made his international debut in 2011. He has played 195 matches for India, scoring over 8,000 runs. This includes 5,077 runs in Test cricket at an average of 38.46 and 2,962 runs in ODIs at an average of 35.26. He has also scored 375 runs in T20I matches. In total, he has 15 centuries in international cricket.
Rahane's Excitement about Joining Leicestershire
Ajinkya Rahane expressed his excitement about joining Leicestershire. He said, "I am really excited to get another opportunity to come to Leicestershire. I have built a strong rapport with Claude Henderson and Alfonso Thomas, and I am looking forward to playing for the club this summer. I followed the team's results last year and was very impressed with what I saw. I hope to enjoy my cricket and contribute to more success for the club this season."
