WhatsApp's server went down on Wednesday night, causing inconvenience to millions of users worldwide trying to send messages. Users took to social media platforms to share their frustrations. However, the issue was resolved later in the night. This comes after Facebook and Instagram faced similar outages last month.
Meta-owned WhatsApp and Instagram have been restored globally after experiencing widespread disruptions around 11:45 PM on Wednesday, affecting numerous users worldwide. According to news agency ANI, WhatsApp went offline on a large scale around 11:45 PM, causing inconvenience to users globally. Users attempting to open the app or its web version received an error message stating that the service was unavailable.
Across various social media platforms, users posted about the issues faced with messaging applications. Website monitoring service DownDetector reported an increase in problems related to WhatsApp connectivity during this period.
WhatsApp addressed the issue in a post on Facebook, stating, "We know some people are currently facing issues, and we're working to fix everything as soon as possible."
This marks the second time in 2024 that Meta-owned platforms have experienced outages. In March, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads were down for many users, with complaints of being logged out of their accounts. Some users mentioned being able to log back in. The impact of this issue was felt on both the application and website.
