CBSE has issued guidelines to all its schools regarding the National Framework. These guidelines concern the subjects of students in classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. CBSE stated that students in classes 9th and 10th will study two Indian languages along with one foreign language. This means that students in classes 9th and 10th will now have to study 10 subjects including three language subjects. Currently, CBSE 10th-grade students are required to study five main subjects and one vocational subject.
CBSE has also specified the number of hours for each subject. Schools have been directed to prepare accordingly. Under this, 120 hours of language and environmental education and 150 hours of science and social science will be taught. Additionally, at least 50 hours of project work is compulsory for students in each subject. CBSE School Organization Secretary Satish Kumar Jha stated that now arts and physical education have also been made mandatory. This includes 60 hours for art, physical education, and well-being.
CBSE students of classes 9th and 10th will have to study 10 subjects including 3 languages. One language can be any foreign language like English, French, German, or Spanish, while the two Indian languages are Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, and Bengali. In classes 9th and 10th, the main subjects still include three subjects: Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. Additionally, skill subjects such as Computer, Physical Education, Art Education, and Environmental Education are included.
In class 11th, there will be six subjects. CBSE class 11th students will have two language subjects and four other subjects. Students will need to pass all six subjects. Now, there will also be a credit system alongside marks for everyone. Schools have been provided guidelines regarding the credits allocated to each subject.
