Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has been sentenced to jail until April 15. Following the conclusion of his custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Kejriwal appeared in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court today. With the ED not seeking an extension of custody, the court decided to place him in jail for a 15-day judicial custody.
During his appearance in the Rouse Avenue Court, Kejriwal addressed the Prime Minister, expressing his concerns about the actions being taken, stating, "Prime Minister, what you are doing is not good for the country." Kejriwal made it clear that despite his incarceration, he has no intentions of resigning from his position as Chief Minister. Instead, he affirmed his commitment to continuing to govern from behind bars.
Kejriwal will be housed in Tihar Jail, where preparations have been completed. Over the past two days, there have been high-level discussions regarding his accommodation within the jail premises. Ultimately, it has been decided that he will be placed in Jail No. 2.
Kejriwal has requested three books from the court to occupy his time during his stay in jail. These include the Ramayana, the Gita, and the book "How Prime Minister decides" by Neerja Chowdhury. Additionally, arrangements are being made to ensure he has access to necessary medications while in jail.
